Iso-Trude to make seals for Advanced Weatherseal By Michael Lauzon | PLASTICS NEWS CORRESPONDENT Posted June 9, 2009
GRAND HAVEN, MICH. (June 9, 1:35 p.m. ET) -- Profile and tubing extruder Iso-Trude Inc. has entered a partnership with Advanced Weatherseal of Carpentersville, Ill. Iso-Trude will supply thermoplastic seals for commercial and residential overhead doors assembled by Advanced Weatherseal. The firm is a new customer for Iso-Trude and used to do its own extruding. “They decided to outsource and go back to serving the marketplace,” explained Iso-Trude CEO Craig Janusz. The industry standard for such seals has been PVC but Iso-Trude’s experience with various plastics in other markets should help with any material substitution, Janusz said in a telephone interview. Among the materials Iso-Trude extrudes are polypropylene, thermoplastic elastomers, thermoplastic polyolefins, ABS, styrenics and urethanes. “We have similar relationships with other customers as their sole-supply source,” Janusz said. Iso-Trude’s markets include automotive, office furniture, building, consumer, medical products and point-of-purchase displays. Iso-Trude was cofounded 16 years ago by Janusz and Don Tjarksen. It runs 12 extrusion lines and 23 extruders. It has seven in-line fabrication stations. The firm is ISO 9001:2000 certified. Janusz declined to comment on the size of the company.
